Welcome to the home of Meerkat Mob Games!

My journey into board gaming started in 2013 with Catan. Like many others, it was my gateway into the hobby. During my freshman and sophomore years of college, I played it constantly, and created many cherished memories around the table with roommates and friends. It laid the foundation for my enjoyment of in-person gaming, specifically the tactile, kinesthetic experience of physically engaging with the board and the people around it.

In 2016, I branched out and picked up the revised edition of Agricola, which introduced me to the more strategic and complex side of the hobby. Uwe Rosenberg opened my eyes to the meaningful choices and long-term decision-making that modern board games can offer, and that’s when I fell in love with worker placement and Euro games. Carcassonne, Puerto Rico, The Castles of Burgundy, Scythe, Wingspan, and many more iconic titles quickly followed, and my collection, and appreciation for the hobby, steadily grew.

Over the years, my tastes have expanded, and my curiosity has led me into new corners of the hobby, from hex-and-counter wargames and historical simulations like Civil War titles, to various TTRPGs, as well as lighter, more social experiences like dexterity and party games. In fact, some of my favorite moments now come from focused, head-to-head two-player experiences just as much as from heavier, thematic group games.

In 2019, I joined BoardGameGeek to start tracking my collection and plays. By 2024, Meerkat Mob Games was born: a space where I write short reviews based on a novel review criteria I developed, share photos from game nights, and connect with others in the board gaming community.

And one day? I hope to design a board game of my own, centered around meerkats, of course.
